Doodle Exibition: Construction from the Unconscious

During Open House Buenos Aires on 1 November, when normally closed buildings opened their doors to the general public, Argentine architect and artist Leonardo Militello from Hitzig Militello Arquitectos showcased his drawings with the title “La Construccion desde el inconciente”.

During a high-profile event in the capital of Argentina - Open House Buenos Aires - architect and artist, Leonardo Militello, who is known to our readers for his projects with architecture firm Hitzig Militello Arquitectos (HMA) showcased his freehand drawings and collections in Gallery “A”, under the title “Construction from the Unconscious”, going by the pseudonym 1000y. An exhibition in a special place, given that the art gallery was designed by HMA itself.

Here Leonardo Militello presents drawings that emerge from figures of organic origin, to then develop into something constantly different and extemporaneous. Although they look a bit like the creative doodles we might absent-mindedly make to empty our minds or to find our focus, Militello's drawings show the skilful hand of the designer.

They really stand out for their formal balance, and for their harmonious cadence of solids and voids, vaguely reminding us of the technical design drawings of both architecture and urban planning. But everything is softened by the manual technique and boldly sleek forms.

The exhibition “La Construccion desde el incociente” becomes an opportunity to get to know the architect's creative side a bit more, to raise the curtain on the “unconscious” world that flows as an artistic component into the design work of Leonardo Militello. Creativity that we have already enjoyed in his projects, particularly his visually striking interiors, such as the Victoria Brown or the Tostado Café Club.
